Whenever someone does something which you deem as unfair/ incorrect/ selfish / whatever, as much as it may seem that way to you, it’s important to remember that it’s not up to you, and it’s THEIR business not yours.

All you can do is accept whatever they bring you, and it’s their responsibility to deal with their thoughts and issues, not yours. You may have to live with the consequences of their actions, but how YOU deal with their actions is up to YOU, your thought processes, your reaction. That’s the only thing you can ever have control over, and it’s the only thing you should be concerned with.

So thoughts like: “He should have loved me more” , “He should have spent more time with me”, “He doesn’t appreciate me”, “He is closed and doesn’t open up to me” – these are all HIS business, not yours. The only part that’s your business is how you deal with him in your interactions with him. And the best way is to treat the situation with understanding (I understand that he doesn’t express his appreciation for me for whatever reasons he may have), respect (I respect that he is this way. It’s just the way he is right now), forgiveness and acceptance.
