out there ideas for fun day activities

  1. Create photo evidence suggesting that you went on an adventure that didn’t really happen
  2. Go for a drive. You can only make right-hand turns. When you finally
get stuck, turn around and then you can only make left-hand turns.
Repeat until you find something interesting. Take pictures along the
    way!
  3. Get on a bus / tube train and get off at a stop you’ve never gotten off at before and go exploring.
  4. Try a new cuisine that you’ve never tried before
  5. Take any recipe book you have at home and randomly open it at a page and try the recipe.
  6. Wage war with paper aeroplanes/ pompoms/ soft-toys
  7. Go to a major chain bookstore, and leave notes to future readers in copies of your favorite books.
  8. Write a piece of fiction together or make up plot ideas for films or comedy routines.
  9. Have a joke-athon: get a group of your friends together where you all tell each other all the jokes you’ve ever heard. Fun times.
  10. Do the lamest tourist thing in your area that you have both secretly wanted to do forever. Have an unabashed good time! If you’re in the UK, apply for free tickets to get a tour of the BBC studios.
  11. Dress up as pirates.. or anything really, and go for a normal social day out eg in the restaurant/ cinema..
  12. Go to a supermarket and have fun with shopping carts in the parking lot.
  13. Rent a movie you’ve never seen before. Set on mute and improvise dialogue.
  14. Be a busker for a day
  15. Go to the airport, get the cheapest, soonest departing flight to anywhere when you show up, and stay there for a weekend.
  16. Camp out with roasting marshmallows and other campy things. You can even do backyard camping. Or patio camping. Or living room camping using your fire place.
  17. Mess around with a camera and experiment what it’s like to be a model.
  18. Go to the playground and swing on the swings.. and generally have fun playing around! (maybe it’s a good idea to do this at a time when kids are in bed)
  19. Check out what activities are running in your local area and if there are *any* on that day, go. It may be a pub quiz night, or a dance class in a local bar, or a comedy night or a class for something else.
  20. Arrange to see how a radio or tv show is recorded. These are usually free and can be loadsa fun 🙂
  21. Go to a random bar, put on an accent, and announce yourself
    proudly to be a Lord/ Lady/ Sir/ Dame/ Duke/ Prince/ Princess, and see what happens.
  22. Discover if there are any workshops/ factories in the area where you can sneak a peak into how random stuff is made
  23. Go to a "pick your own" farm and get in touch with Mother Earth, picking yummy goodness to your heart’s content.
  24. Go to a music shop and play around on a load of instruments.
  25. Go with a friend to a fancy dress shop/ costume shop and try stuff on just for the fun of it. Bring camera. For girls, you may want to do this with a Bridal shop or an expensive gown shop. Putting on an accent and announcing yourself to be a Dame/ Lady may help in the latter 😉
